David Stig Hansen
| | Stig was born in San Francisco in 1967 and became actively artistic after living in Guatemala and becoming inspired by mainly Latin American. Later, while studying Chinese at the Defense Language Institute in California, Stig painted in his barracks and started getting requests and pay from fellow soldiers to paint everything ranging from Punk Band Logos to Flaming Swords to Clowns on Acid. After he was honourably discharged 20 days before Desert Storm, he immersed himself in the California Desert art scene and participated in numerous installations. In the 1992 recession, the Desert experienced a major depression that put many of the galleries out of business. Stig left humiliated and destitute and went to Taiwan to teach English. Stig gave up painting to, as his step-grandfather put it, put his nose to the grindstone and later returned to Monterey to get an MBA. Now Stig is back, mainly painting to decorate his Taipei apartment, but has also dedicated himself to doing portraits. For more: www.stigart.com, stig@stigart.com. Inspiration for Alley Cats painting: The painting was inspired by admiration for the painting of a cat, which the restaurant uses as a logo and a painting called The Persistence of Memory (1931) by Salvador Dali. The type of pizza, which he calls "the Stig" as a 12" Pizza with Pepperoni, Salami and Jalapeno Peppers. Now the cook won't forget what he likes. 想知道更多請上www.stigart.com或stig@stigart.com。 |
